Parish History

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish was established by Bishop Frank J. Harrison in July of 1985 to service the newly developed areas of Liverpool and Baldwinsville. 300 families signed on as founding pioneers with Father John Finnegan as Pastor. He had a house in Kimbrook that he worked out of and our first religious education classes were held in the rooms of the house including the basement. Masses were held in various places while our new chruch building was under construction. Palmer Elementary, Maurer Funeral Home, Radisson's Aspen House and Moyers Corners Fire Department were all gracious enough to let us use their space for weekend Masses. Finally, the work was finished and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church was dedicated in July 1987 by Bishop James J. O'Keefe. We grew very quickly and eventually decided that an education facitlity should be constructed. We added thirteen classrooms and more office space. Parishoners volunteered their time and expertise to make our education building a reality.

In August 1996, Father Finnegan was transferred to St. Joseph's in Camillus and Reverend John Wagner was appointed. The parish had grown to 1,300 families. The parish currently has over 1,350 families and 4,100 registered parishoners. The parish educates over 1,000 children in our Religious Education Programs each year and operates a preschool for three, four and five year olds with nearly 100 children.

In March of 2004, the parish began construction of a new two story Parish Ministry Center named Seton Hall. The first level of the Hall includes two large preschool classrooms, preschool cubbys, parent-teacher conference rooms and offices. Also on the lower level is a 120 person meeting room, kitchenette and storage rooms. The upper level includes the welcoming lobby, large gymnasium used not only for athletics such as CYO and summer basketball leagues but as the all purpose meeting room for parish social events. The events include pancake breakfasts, spaghetti dinners, dances, funeral receptions, parish teen events, vacation bible school and a Christmas pageant. Adjacent to the gym is a large commercial kitchen for use in these events. The building is fully accessible for those with disabilities.

In September 2005, the parish welcomed Father Finnegan back to serve as Administator of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Danny boy, father's Irish Setter, also joined the parish in September 2006.
